Q1. What is the qualification for UPSC IES/ISS Examination 2026?
Answer: For IES: Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics. For ISS: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one subject OR Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from recognized University.
Q2. What is the age limit for IES/ISS Exam 2026?
Answer: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 30 years as on 01-08-2026 (born between 02-08-1996 to 01-08-2005). Age relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC – 3 years, PwBD – 10 years, Ex-Servicemen – 5 years as per Government rules.
Q3. What is the application fee for UPSC IES/ISS 2026?
Answer: Rs. 200/- for General/OBC/EWS candidates through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI. Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempted from fee payment.
Q4. What is the selection process for IES/ISS Examination 2026?
Answer: Two-stage process: Part-I Written Examination (1000 marks – 6 papers) from 19-06-2026 onwards, Part-II Personality Test/Interview (200 marks) for qualified candidates. Total marks: 1200. Negative marking applicable in objective type papers.
Q5. Can I apply for both IES and ISS in UPSC Examination 2026?
Answer: No. A candidate may compete for only ONE service – either Indian Economic Service OR Indian Statistical Service. Multiple applications under same/different services will lead to cancellation of candidature.
